In plastic welding, similar thermoplastics are molecularly joined together using hot air and welding wire. There are many different methods of welding plastics. Common methods include wire welding, extrusion welding and mirror/butt welding. Almost all 'thermoplastics' can be welded, especially the most commonly used types, PE, PP and PVC.

The welding process

A hot air welding tool is used for wire welding. Hot air is used to evenly heat the plastic parts together with the welding wire, which fuses the parts together. Once cooled, it is a full strength weld. This method can be used to manufacture end products that are too large for standard base materials.
